š„ The Ultimate Boudin Battle in Avoyelles! š½ļø
All right, Iāve tried my fair share of boudin around Avoyelles, and I think most folks would agree that Juneauās is hard to beat. Itās cooked just right every time and always tastes the same, which says a lot. The only thing is, itās got a good bit of kick to it. Some people like that, but it can sneak up on you if youāre not ready.
Shawnās Supercenter has a good link too. Itās nice and meaty, and you can tell they put care into it. I like mine with a little more pepper, but that one still hits the spot.
Swoles always has something good cooking, and their boudin is no different. Everything they serve has flavor, and the boudin fits right in with that.
I havenāt made it to Durandās or Big Johnās yet, but I can tell you Bordelonās makes some fine smoked sausage and syrup sausage that reminds me of old-time Plaucheville cooking.
Still, if youāre asking for my pick for the best boudin in Avoyelles, Iāve got to hand it to Y-Not Stop. You can get it frozen or straight out the hot box, and itās always ready. Itās got this tangy flavor that tells you somebody really worked to get that recipe just right.
So thatās my take. Iāve tasted a few links in my day, and Iām claiming the title of best boudin tester in the parish. Iāll be waiting to see if I win that gift certificate, maybe Iāll use it to buy another pack of Y-Notās finest.
Editorās Note:
The Great Avoyelles Boudin Showdown is off to a strong start, and we already have some serious contenders for the title of Parish Boudin Connoisseur. This weekās entry comes from Dave Martin, whoās made his way across Avoyelles sampling links from one end of the parish to the other. Heās got opinions, a good sense of humor, and maybe a little heartburn to prove it.
