Three Avoyelles residents complete EMT training

Three Avoyelles Parish residents are among 11 new emergency medical technicians who recently completed training at the National EMS Academy’s Central Louisiana campus.

The local graduates are Lydia Blood of Evergreen, Zina Callegari of Bunkie and Graci Morgan of Moreauville.

The 12-week program included classroom instruction, hands-on skills training and clinical experience designed to prepare students to assess patients, provide emergency medical care and respond to medical and traumatic emergencies.

Their clinical training also gave the students an opportunity to apply those skills in real patient-care settings.

“Completing EMT training is a big accomplishment, and these graduates have put in the time and effort to get here,” said National EMS Academy Director TJ Dronet. “We’re excited to see where their EMS careers take them and the impact they’ll have in our communities.”
