Timothey Curry Announces Candidacy for Avoyelles Parish School Board District 9

Friends, family and neighbors of Avoyelles Parish, I would like to earn your vote for Avoyelles Parish School Board, District 9.

My name is Timothey Curry. I am 36 years old, originally from Benton, Louisiana, and my family and I have proudly called Avoyelles Parish home for the past nine years. My wife, Page, and I are blessed with four children, Brigham, Riverson, Lochlan and Tag.

I am a graduate of Louisiana College with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. As a former Division I quarterback, athletics taught me leadership, responsibility, communication and teamwork.

I currently serve as CEO of Avoyelles Hospital and as a Regional CEO responsible for three acute-care hospital systems. Together, these organizations operate with combined annual budgets exceeding $140 million and employ more than 1,000 people. This role has given me experience managing large budgets, leading teams, recruiting employees, setting priorities and pursuing state and federal grant funding.

I also serve on the Rural Hospital Coalition of Louisiana Board and am a member of the Marksville Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of Avoyelles. Through our healthcare organizations, we have supported local schools through sponsorships, health screenings, student-athlete physicals, internships, workforce development partnerships and community events.

Outside of work, I spend time volunteering as a coach for youth sports and activities throughout the parish. I believe these programs help teach discipline, accountability, teamwork and perseverance.

If elected to the Avoyelles Parish School Board, my focus would be on putting students and education first, supporting and retaining quality teachers and staff, and being responsible with taxpayer dollars. I would also focus on pursuing additional funding opportunities and strengthening partnerships throughout the community.

I want every child in Avoyelles Parish to have access to a quality education close to home and to be prepared for whatever path comes next, whether college, technical education, military service, entrepreneurship or another career.

Our youth is our future, and we have a responsibility to give them the education, opportunities and foundation they need to succeed right here in Avoyelles Parish.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and why I am seeking the District 9 seat.

Timothey Curry
