The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana invites the com- munity to come together for the Second Annual Healing Tribal Strong 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the tribe’s reservation, 150 Melacon Road in Marksville, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Open to participants of all ages and abilities, the event celebrates unity, strength, and healing while honoring those affected by cancer — including survivors, caregivers, and families remembering loved ones.

Organizers said the 5K was created to bring people to- gether in solidarity, offering both competitive runners and casual walkers a chance to connect with neighbors and tribal members. The scenic course winds through the reservation and finishes with refreshments, music, and a resource fair featuring local health providers and support groups.

“Healing Tribal Strong is more than a name — it’s a movement,” organizers said. “Our mission is to uplift tribal families and friends by creating a space where no one faces cancer alone.”

The Healing Tribal Strong initiative also offers monthly virtual support meetings on the first Sunday of each month from 4–4:30 p.m. CST, featuring encouragement, nutrition, fitness tips, and shared stories. Participants can also join the group’s private Facebook community to stay connected throughout the year.

Registration is now open at the Tunica-Biloxi Tribal Of- fice or online at hts5k.la.
