Library to host Louisiana’s 214th Birthday Celebration in Plaucheville

The Friends of the Avoyelles Parish Libraries will host
Louisiana’s 214th Birthday Celebration on Monday, April
20, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Plaucheville Community
Center, 245 LA 1181 in Plaucheville and is open to chil-
dren ages 5 to 12.

Activities will include:
- Rougarou storytime
- Games
- Prizes
- Fun facts about Louisiana

Spring Bayou Restoration Team launches membership drive, plans May 2 banquet

The Spring Bayou Restoration Team has launched its
2026 membership and sponsorship drive to support pres-
ervation efforts at Spring Bayou.

As part of the annual campaign, SBRT will host its up-
coming banquet on May 2 at Paragon Casino Resort. The
event will include a buffet meal, live auction and an op-
portunity for members and supporters to gather in support
of the organization’s mission.

Membership includes entry for individuals and a guest,
along with access to the banquet and its activities. Organ-
izers note that plans have been made to accommodate ap-
proximately 200 attendees.

The Spring Bayou Restoration Team is made up of ded-
icated volunteers who contribute their time, resources and
leadership to the restoration and preservation of Spring
Bayou. Board members and supporters continue to play an
active role in advancing the organization’s efforts, with
many contributing behind the scenes throughout the year.

“Our mission is simple: to restore and preserve Spring
Bayou,” the organization states.

Attendees will be served:
- Sliced roast sirloin
- Grilled chicken breast
- A variety of sides
- Dessert

Paragon Casino Resort is again partnering with SBRT, providing a $2,500 discount to support the event.

Sponsorship opportunities are available, with a submis-
mission deadline of Wednesday, April 22.
