Veteran Prosecutor Jonathan Gaspard Enters The DA Race!!
Veteran prosecutor, conservative Republican, and lifelong Avoyelles Parish resident Jonathan T. Gaspard announced that he is running for Avoyelles Parish District Attorney.
He is pledging to be tough on crime, stand up for victims, and keep Avoyelles Parish families safe. Gaspard has spent the last 12 years serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Avoyelles Parish, where he has prosecuted more than 1,400 felony cases. He currently serves as Chief Felony Prosecutor, handling major jury trials and focusing on holding violent and repeat offenders accountable.
“For Avoyelles Parish to thrive, families must feel safe and victims must be heard,” Gaspard said. “As District Attorney, my goal will be simple: protect the community, hold criminals accountable, and run an efficient, fair, and fiscally responsible office the people of this parish can trust.”
During his time as a prosecutor, Gaspard has led high-stakes courtroom cases, including securing a life sentence in a double-homicide case. He has also used Louisiana’s Habitual Offender Statute to ensure repeat criminals face stronger penalties when warranted.
If elected, Gaspard said his office would prioritize aggressive prosecution of violent crime, drug trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, crimes against children, and other serious offenses that threaten community safety.
