Honoring those who served in Avoyelles Parish

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, a cease-fire agreement β€” called an armistice β€” was signed between the Allied forces and Germany, ending the β€œWar to End All Wars.” From then on, Nov. 11 was known as Armistice Day.

The day is now known as Veterans Day, honoring all U.S. veterans who have served.

Avoyelles Parish has been represented in the ranks of veterans from the American Revolution to the War on Terror. Several communities will hold special ceremonies honoring the parish’s veterans.
