Village of Moreauville Announces Termination of Assistant Police Chief

MOREAUVILLE, La. — The Village of Moreauville has announced that Assistant Chief of Police Craig Lee is no longer employed with the department, effective immediately.

According to a public notice issued by Mayor Beryl Holmes and the Moreauville Town Council, the decision follows a comprehensive investigation into a prior felony conviction that now renders Lee ineligible to serve in a law enforcement capacity under applicable laws and standards.

Village officials emphasized that the decision was not made lightly. In the statement, they noted that Lee had demonstrated dedication and service to the community and consistently conducted himself in a professional and respectful manner during his time with the department.

Despite those contributions, officials stated that the Village is committed to ensuring all employees, particularly those in positions of public trust, meet the legal and ethical requirements necessary to serve the community effectively.

The Village of Moreauville also reassured residents that public safety remains a top priority and that law enforcement services will continue without interruption. An interim plan has been implemented as the Village works through the next steps in the process.

Mayor Holmes and council members Farrell Johnson, Shannon Sampson and Timothy Hill expressed appreciation for the public’s understanding and continued support.
