Wanted Fugitive Captured After One Year! 🚓

Michael Wayne Murray was taken into custody Feb. 20, 2026, following a traffic stop near Preston Street and the Spirit Gas Station, according to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Murray had been wanted since September 29, 2025, on charges including:

• Second degree battery with intent to do serious bodily injury
• Distribution or possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance
• Illegal possession of a stolen firearm
• Possession of a Schedule IV controlled dangerous substance, Alprazolam

Authorities said Murray had evaded capture for one year and now faces an additional charge of resisting an officer.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
