$5.3 Million Highway 107 Improvement Project to Begin Aug. 10 in Avoyelles Parish

AVOYELLES PARISH — Drivers traveling along Louisiana Highway 107 will soon see construction crews as a major roadway improvement project gets underway next week.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that work will begin Monday, Aug. 10, on a $5.3 million project to improve approximately seven miles of LA 107 in Avoyelles Parish.
The project will extend from Mark Street in Marksville to the Red River Bridge and is designed to improve the roadway's condition and extend its lifespan.
Planned improvements include:
• Full-depth roadway base repairs
• Milling and removal of the existing asphalt surface
• New asphalt paving
• Fresh roadway striping
• Updated traffic signs
During construction, motorists should expect intermittent lane closures throughout the project area. DOTD is encouraging drivers to use caution, watch for workers and equipment, obey posted warning signs and reduced speed limits, and allow extra travel time when possible.
Construction is expected to continue through late fall, although the completion date could change depending on weather and other factors.
Motorists are encouraged to stay alert while traveling through the work zone and check for traffic updates as construction progresses.
