Countdown to Kickoff ~ Avoyelles football teams prepare for scrimmages, jamboree and opening night!

Football season is drawing closer across Avoyelles Parish as Avoyelles High, Bunkie and Marksville prepare for preseason scrimmages, the annual parish jamboree and the opening of the 2026 regular season.

The three parish teams will each take part in a preseason scrimmage before meeting Friday, Aug. 28, at the Avoyelles Parish Football Jamboree hosted by Bunkie Magnet High School.

Avoyelles High will host North Central for a scrimmage Friday, Aug. 21. The Mustangs will then travel to Bunkie for the parish jamboree before opening the regular season Sept. 4 at Ville Platte. Their first home game is scheduled for Sept. 11 against Sacred Heart of Ville Platte.

Bunkie will begin its preseason schedule Thursday, Aug. 20, with an away scrimmage against Oakdale. The Panthers will host the parish jamboree Aug. 28 before opening regular-season play Sept. 4 at Eunice. Bunkie’s first home game is scheduled for Sept. 11 against Calvary Baptist.

Marksville will travel to Ville Platte for a scrimmage against Sacred Heart on Friday, Aug. 21. The Tigers will compete in the parish jamboree Aug. 28 before opening their regular season Sept. 4 against Catholic of Pointe Coupee in New Roads. Marksville’s home opener is scheduled for Sept. 11 against Abbeville.

Several parish matchups are also scheduled throughout the season. Avoyelles will travel to Bunkie on Sept. 17 before hosting Marksville on Sept. 25. Bunkie and Marksville will close the regular season against each other Nov. 6 in the 75th Catskin Game.

All schedules were provided by the schools. Dates, times and locations are subject to change. Fans should confirm game information with the schools before traveling.
