Avoyelles Publishing is excited to announce that Dr. Paul D. Coreil will soon begin writing a new weekly column for The Avoyelles Weekly titled “Coreil’s Career Corner.”
Upon his retirement as Chancellor of LSU of Alexandria, Dr. Coreil will bring his years of experience in education, agriculture, workforce development, natural resources and Louisiana life to readers through a column focused on human-interest stories, career lessons and personal reflections.
The column will appear weekly in The Avoyelles Weekly, Avoyelles Publishing’s paid weekly newspaper.
Dr. Coreil’s career has taken him from Louisiana’s coastal marshes and fisheries work to leadership with the LSU AgCenter, the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service and LSU of Alexandria. His writings are expected to be informative, educational and sometimes entertaining, with topics connected to Cajun Country, high school sports, offshore work, crawfish farming, Louisiana’s seafood industry, teamwork, career success, LSUA’s historic growth and family life.
During his time at LSUA, Dr. Coreil focused on workforce development, growing degree offerings, increasing university visibility and helping connect students with career opportunities. Before his work at LSUA, he served as Vice Chancellor of the LSU Agricultural Center and Director of the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service. He began his Extension career in 1978 as a Sea Grant Assistant Area Agent in Fisheries and Wildlife for Cameron and Calcasieu parishes.
Dr. Coreil was born and raised in Ville Platte. He and his wife, Arlene Pitre Coreil, have been married for 51 years. They are the parents of three children and the proud grandparents of three grandchildren.
