From Marksville, to the skies! Tristen Tassin set to make history at LSUA⭐️

Tristen Tassin, a 2023 graduate of Louisiana School for the Agricultural Sciences (LaSAS) and the son of Scott and Tammy Tassin, is expected to become the first Avoyelles Parish native to earn LSU Alexandria's Bachelor of Science in Professional Aviation in December 2026.

Tassin has earned his private pilot certificate, instrument rating, commercial pilot certificate and certified flight instructor certificate. He has just one B-term course remaining before graduation.

His family credits LSUA and instructors William "Bill" Blackburn and Shari Drerup for helping make the opportunity possible.

"This milestone is beyond our wildest imaginations," his mother, Tammy Tassin, said. "We are so grateful for the support, guidance and opportunities he has received at LSUA."

Tassin said his success has taken hard work, determination, support from family and friends, and help from above.

"It's a blessing to be able to do what I love," he said. "I couldn't have gotten here without my family, friends. instructors and. most importantly, my faith."

À lifelong Marksville resident, Tassin takes pride in his roots and hopes his journey can encourage others in Avoyelles Parish to pursue their dreams.

After graduation, he plans to work as a certified flight instructor to build experience before advancing to regional airlines and, eventually, a major commercial airline.

Family and friends describe Tassin as a dedicated and humble young man whose achievement brings pride to the Marksville community.

As he nears the finish line. Tassin remains focused on the future and on representing Avovelles Parish in a field where he will bring success..

"I'm thankful for where I'm from and everyone who has supported me," he said. "This is just the beginning."
