🏀Mustangs open the season with some competitive play!
Boys Team
The Avoyelles High School boys basketball team opened the 2025–26 season with an active non-district schedule competing in a mix of home and road games as they worked to establish rhythm and depth early in the year.
Through the opening stretch of the season the Mustangs recorded several key victories including wins over Grant, Negreet, Avoyelles Charter, and Elizabeth High School. In those games the Mustangs showed balanced scoring and strong transition play while building confidence against regional opponents.
The Mustangs also faced challenging competition including matchups against Alexandria and Tioga providing early tests against larger programs.
As the season continues the Mustangs remain focused on consistency defensive execution and continued improvement.
Girls Team
The Avoyelles High School girls basketball team has also been active early in the 2025–26 season competing against a demanding slate of opponents while gaining valuable experience on the court.
One of the Mustangs’ early highlights was a 39–36 win over Block High School a game that featured strong defensive effort and late-game execution. The Mustangs have continued to compete in additional matchups that tested depth and conditioning contributing to overall development.
Coaches emphasized fundamentals teamwork and growth as the season moves forward.
