New sports complex takes shape in Moreauville

The Moreauville Sports Club is upgrading its practice fields into a full sports complex behind Avoyelles High School, next to the football field, with hopes of opening for the spring 2027 season.

The first phase is underway, with dirt work, grading and seeding completed, according to Chris Bordelon, who provided an update on behalf of the Moreauville Sports Club. Preparations for bleachers, batting cages and drainage are next, followed by lighting, signage and concessions.

“Our goal is to bring a new and modern facility to the youth of Moreauville and the parish at large,” Bordelon said.

The improvements build on years of community support. Volunteers and donors helped acquire the land, develop the original fields and establish the sports club. Fundraisers, concession sales and donations are now helping finance the upgrades.

“None of this could have been done without our community’s support,” Bordelon said.

The club hopes the completed complex will serve young athletes throughout Avoyelles Parish for years to come.
