Obituary for Senna Marie Jones

Senna Marie Jones, age 60, of Ponchatoula, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.

Born on November 9, 1965, to Ellis and Sandra Benjamin Sampson, Senna was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother and Nana who touched countless lives with her radiant smile, generous spirit and unwavering faith. From a young age, she displayed an unbreakable spirit, inspiring determination and compassionate heart that made her a light to everyone around her.

Senna grew up in Marksville, where she was known for her kindness, laughter and the joy she brought to every room she entered. She graduated from Marksville High School and pursued a fulfilling career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her dedication, work ethic and love for her profession left an indelible mark on those with whom she worked. Her love for helping others was evident in everything she did. Friends and family will remember her contagious laughter, gentle wisdom and the countless ways she supported others during their times of need.

Above all, Senna cherished her family. She was a dedicated and loving wife to Reginald Jones Sr. and a devoted mother to Latrakus Benjamin and his wife, Sapeka; ReKesha Jones; Kanisha Jones and Reginald Jones Jr. Her children were the light of her life, and she shared an unbreakable bond with her grandchildren, Malaya, McKenzy, Paris, Major, Mia, Paden and Payce.

She is also survived by three brothers, Clyde Benjamin and wife, Sandra; Jason Lusk Sr. and wife, Debra and Stravous Sampson and his wife, Andrea and two sisters, Sonja Ford and husband, Robert and Erika Patterson and husband, Roland. Senna also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Sandra Benjamin Sampson. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but they are comforted knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire them. Her legacy of love, resilience and compassion will live on through her family.

Funeral Services

Funeral services for Senna Marie Jones will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, with Pastor James Fontenot officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. until the time of service in the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home chapel.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jason Lusk Jr., Roland Patterson, Kendrick Sampson, Nick Young, Kevin Jacobs and Patrick Baptiste.

Honorary pallbearers will be Latrakus Benjamin, Reginald Jones Jr., Jason Lusk Sr., Clyde Benjamin, John Sampson, Mike Sampson and Stravous Sampson.
