Obituary for Anne Ducote Plaisance
Anne Ducote Plaisance, 89, of New Columbia, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday July 9, 2026, at the Evangelical Community Hospital. Anne was born in Lecompte, Louisiana on March 25, 1937, a daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Haas) Ducote. She was married to Paul Joseph Plaisance, Jr and her death breaks a marital union of 67 years. They were elementary school classmates and high school sweethearts. She was a graduate of Bunkie High School and attended University of Southwestern Louisiana. She received an Associate's Degree from Fairfax County Community College in Virginia. Anne was the Manager of public high school food services for the City of Alexandria, Virginia for many years. Anne was an avid quilt maker, belonged to many garden clubs, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and a member and former President of the Auxiliary of Civil Engineers. She worked on political campaigns throughout her life at the state and national levels. She delivered Meals on Wheels and did various volunteer work. Anne loved her gardens, birds, fishpond, and feeding her frogs by hand. She has two beloved cats that she rescued: Lucky and LuLu. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her three grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her husband, are daughters Jacqueline Plaisance Chambaz (Bernard) and Yvonne Renee' Bennage (Joshua), and son Paul Joseph Plaisance III, three grandchildren: Nicholas Bennage, Katherine Bennage, and Annabel Chambaz, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church in Lewisburg, PA. The Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia at 2:30 PM with Rev Justin G Lingenfelter of United in Christ Lutheran Church officiating. The family will provide flowers and asks that donations in Anne's memory be made to St Jude's Childrens' Hospital Funeral arrangements by the John H Shaw III Funeral Home in Lewisburg, PA.
