Obituary for Gerald Mayeux

Funeral Mass for Gerald Mayeux of Cottonport will take place at the St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church of Cottonport on Monday, October 12th, 2026 beginning at 9:00am with Fr. Charlie Ray officiating. Burial will take place at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery # 2.

Chief Gerald, age 87, passed away at the Hessmer Nursing Home of Hessmer on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Geraldine Ducote, Gary Mayeux, Mike Mayeux, Ricky Mayeux, Steve Mayeux, and Arthur Mayeux; sister, Bernadine Laborde; grandchildren, Joseph, Annie, Emily, Jacob, Farrah, Wesley, Linsley, Kaitlyn, Isaiah, Israel, Elizabeth, Cade, Colby, Reagan, Greg, and Nick; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will include: Arthur Mayeux, Mike Mayeux, Steve Mayeux, Ricky Mayeux, Colby Mayeux, Cade Mayeux, and Wesley Stevens.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jean Mayeux; grandson, Jerry Mayeux; parents, Edwin & Vivian Gauthier Mayeux; siblings, Barbara Laborde, Donald Mayeux, Freddie Mayeux, and Floyd Mayeux.

Visitation will begin at 5:00pm on Sunday, October 11th, 2026 at the Escude Funeral Home of Cottonport until 9:00pm that evening. Visitation will resume to the public on Monday morning at 7:00am.
