Obituary for Gilmore Williams

Private services for Gilmore Williams, Jr., 76, of Simmesport, Louisiana, will be held by the family.  

Gilmore Williams, Jr., passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Avoyelles Manor Nursing Home in Dupont. 

Gilmore graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School.

Gilmore was married to Diana Marie Dupas Williams on July 20, 1970; they were married for 49 years. Diana preceded him in death on October 4, 2019. Gilmore worked in transportation as a Delivery Driver for over 35 years.

He enjoyed volunteering for his grandkids sports activities and was affectionally know as Papa. Gilmore is survived by his children, Andre’ Williams (Venitta) of Woodbridge, Virginia, Gilshanna Ragas (Aaron) of Plano, Texas, and Dia’Moreia Howell (Brandon) of Royce City, Texas; grandchildren, Andre’ Williams Jr., Aaron Jr., Victoria, and Stephanie Ragas; Briley and Ceauxdi Howell; siblings, Michael Williams, Earl Williams (Deloris), Beverly Williams, Doris Williams, and Geneva Overton.

Gilmore is preceded in death by his parents, Gilmore Williams Sr. and Willie Mae Williams; brothers, Leon Williams and Robert James Williams; and sister, Dorothy King.

The family would like to thank everyone for all their support, love, and prayers. It was felt and truly appreciated.
