Mrs. Jeansonne, age 78, of Marksville, Louisiana passed away peacefully at her home where she wanted to be with her family and friends on Thursday, May 28 th , 2026. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mildred Coco Knoll.
She was a kind, giving and caring person with everyone she would meet and had a godly soul and an open heart. Gale converted to Catholicism after her first child was born. She served faithfully in activities in her church from teaching Catechism to vacation Bible school or decorating the church for special Masses. She
was very devoted to her faith, family, and friends. After following her husband to Kansas during his Army tour, she and her husband returned to Marksville where she worked as a secretary. Wanting to return to college she took summer and night courses to get her teaching degree. She later became a teacher and
principal at Marksville Elementary school then became principal at St Mary's school in Cottonport. She spent a total of 30 years in education in public and private schools. Her greatest pleasure was teaching the
hearing impaired kids. Though she loved all her students, those were her cherished ones. She taught herself sign language to be able to better communicate with them.
Following her years as an educator she concentrated on her lovely grandkids and LSU baseball. Going to the 2009 College World Series and watching the Tigers win it was the greatest. Not to be overshadowed,
she also went to LSU's last 3 college football championship games. Yes, she was an LSU fan. Her later years were grandkids all the way. She went to almost every sporting event they were in or every school activity they participated in. Her life was always full up to her passing The family wants to thank all at All Saints Hospice for their kind and caring time they gave to Gale and her
family. Their care was very professional and done with utmost respect to Gale and her family. Shoutouts go to Amy Trevino and Jennifer Faul hospice caregivers and her sitter Authurratte Worthy who not only cared
but showed concern.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Gerard Jeansonne; sons, Todd Jeansonne of Plattenville, Louisiana, and Matt Jeansonne (Kristi) of Lafayette, Louisiana; one sister, Kathy Lemoine (Ben) of Marksville; and five grandchildren, Aubrie Jeansonne, Colton Jeansonne, Jillian Jeansonne,
Jackson Jeansonne, and Evan Jeansonne.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1 st , 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:20 p.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 12:40 p.m. on Monday, June 1 st , 2026
