Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Jean Dauzat will be held on Thursday, May 28 th , 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Fifth Ward Baptist Church with Reverend Keith Lamartiniere officiating. Interment will be held at the Lamartiniere Cemetery in Fifth Ward, Louisiana. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Marksville, Louisiana.
Mrs. Dauzat, age 78, of Fifth Ward, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, May 24 th , 2026, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilton and Georgia Foster Lamartiniere; grandson, Matthew Chase Dauzat; great grandchild, Caspian Dauzat; and best friend, Cecile Cole.
Mrs. Laura Dauzat was a devoted woman of faith, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to serving both her family and her community. For 25 years, she proudly owned and operated Laura’s Beauty Shop, where she touched the lives with her kindness and warm spirit. Mrs. Dauzat was a charter member of Fifth Ward Baptist Church and faithfully served as
church secretary for several years. She also directed numerous Christmas plays and shared her love of gospel music by singing in church on many occasions. A devoted member of Woodmen of the World for 25 years, she remained active in the lives and school activities of her children and grandchildren. Laura loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind, and her faith was reflected in the love and compassion she showed to everyone around her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Evans Dauzat; sons, Dean Dauzat (Patty) and Troy Dauzat both of Alexandria, Louisiana; daughter, Pamela Dauzat (Bud) of Mansura; brothers, Danny Lamartiniere (Debby) and Reverend Keith Lamartiniere (Renee) both of Fifth Ward; sisters, Emma Gaspard and Bennetta Rachal (Sims) both of Fifth Ward; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and best friend Gail Shill of Hessmer.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27 th , 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. at Fifth Ward Baptist Church and will reopen on Thursday, May 28 th , 2026, at 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. also at Fifth Ward Baptist Church.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Dana Dauzat, Mark Dauzat, Joey Marcotte, Trenton Lamartiniere, Michael Firmin, and Travis Dauzat. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Rachal and Aaron Lamartiniere.
