ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE: LA 452 DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT IN MARKSVILLE

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office shares an important traffic advisory from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development regarding the ongoing drainage improvement project in Avoyelles Parish.

Beginning on Monday, June 8th, 2026 at 7 am, Louisiana 452 (Preston Street) will be fully closed to traffic at its intersection with Caldwell Street, located near Bernard’s Crawfish Pad in Marksville.

Construction at this specific intersection is anticipated to last for approximately four to five weeks, with the entire project scheduled for completion in July 2026, depending on weather conditions.

DETOUR INFORMATION

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has established the following designated detour routes, which will be clearly marked with official construction signage:

Eastbound Traffic: Motorists traveling east will detour west on Louisiana 452 to the intersection of Louisiana 1. From there, proceed north on Louisiana 1 to the intersection of Louisiana 1192. Turn east onto Louisiana 1192 and continue to the intersection of Louisiana 107. Proceed south on Louisiana 107 to the intersection of Louisiana 1190, and then head east on Louisiana 1190 to return to Louisiana 452.

Westbound Traffic: Motorists traveling west will detour east on Louisiana 452 to the intersection of Louisiana 1190. Proceed west on Louisiana 1190 to the intersection of Louisiana 107. Turn north onto Louisiana 107 and continue to the intersection of Louisiana 1192. From there, head west on Louisiana 1192 to the intersection of Louisiana 1. Proceed south on Louisiana 1 to return to Louisiana 452.

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office urges all drivers to exercise extreme caution, eliminate distractions, and reduce travel speeds when approaching the detour zones. Please remain highly vigilant for construction crews, flashing signs, and heavy equipment operating near the roadway.
