Senator Heather Cloud Connects with Avoyelles Parish Community

Sen. Heather Cloud spent the day traveling throughout Avoyelles Parish, meeting with residents and local officials to address infrastructure concerns and visit community members.

During the visit, Cloud met with a constituent regarding a drainage issue, joined by Representative Daryl Deshotel, representatives from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, and local government officials to discuss possible solutions and next steps.

Cloud also toured Dr. Michel Road on Spring Bayou with Parish Juror Thomas to inspect conditions along the roadway, which is owned by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. The visit focused on identifying needs and advocating for resources to help reconstruct and improve the road.

While in the parish, Cloud met local residents including Larry Jorgensen, a published author, and later visited longtime friend Jessie Lachney, whom Cloud praised for overcoming a recent life-threatening health ordeal.

The day concluded with a stop at Broken Wheel Brewery, where Cloud visited with community members at one of the parish’s local gathering spots.

Cloud, who represents District 28 in the Louisiana State Senate, was elected in October 2019 and is the first Republican to serve in the seat. She said the visit underscored the importance of being present in the district and working directly with residents and officials to address local needs.
