π Simmesport Welcomes the Holiday Season with RISE Christmas Parade! π
The holiday season officially arrived in Simmesport on Sunday, Dec. 7, as families lined the streets for the annual RISE Christmas Parade and Park Celebration.
The festive event brought together local organizations, churches, schools, and community groups for an afternoon filled with Christmas cheer.
The parade began at Christ the King Church, rolling through downtown with brightly decorated floats, dance teams, cheer squads, and public service departments. Participation was free this year, allowing even more community groups to take part in the tradition.
One of the highlights of the parade was the arrival of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, portrayed by APPJ Vice President Jacob Coco and Gwen Barr, who delighted children along the route.
Organizers encouraged residents to continue supporting the ongoing RISE Toy Drive, which provides gifts to local children during the Christmas season.
