Hometown roots fuel Atchafalaya Metals’ growth

A Simmesport business built on hometown roots is continuing to grow and earning recognition along the way. Atchafalaya Metals has been named RISE’s August 2026 Simmesport Business of the Month, recognizing the locally owned company’s growth, job creation and commitment to keeping business close to home.

Owned by Ben Spinner Jr. and Britney Spinner, Atchafalaya Metals opened in 2022. Both were raised in Simmesport and have made keeping the business local an important part of the company’s mission. “We like to keep things local,” Britney Spinner said.

Atchafalaya Metals manufactures and supplies the components needed to build metal structures from the ground up, serving customers in Simmesport and throughout Avoyelles Parish. The company offers 20 different color options for customers planning their projects. The business is also preparing to add something new just in time for hunting season. Britney said Atchafalaya Metals will soon offer a new camouflage print, giving customers another option for hunting-related buildings and other projects.

The company recently took another step forward with the opening of a new, more accessible office at 15488 Highway 1 in Simmesport. Behind the business is a local team that includes Anna Reynolds, Razonia Dossett, Terry Nelson, Roger White and Brian Saucier.

For Ben and Britney, however, growing the company is about more than the business itself. They are also thinking about what they can build for the future and leave behind for their children, Aaron, 18, and Aubrey, 12. “We want to leave something for the next generation,” Britney said.

RISE selected Atchafalaya Metals for its August honor as part of its effort to spotlight businesses that invest in Simmesport, create local jobs and help keep money circulating within the community.

For the Spinners, the recognition marks another milestone for a business that began with hometown hard work and continues to grow with an emphasis on local people, local investment and the next generation.
