Wintry Weather Hits Avoyelles: Rain, Thunder, and Sleet!

Avoyelles Parish experienced a bout of winter weather beginning Saturday, Jan. 24, following several days of very low temperatures.

Heavy rain moved into the area and transitioned into sleet and light snow flurries, with wintry conditions continuing into sometime Sunday, Jan. 25.

Ice and sleet accumulated on trees, yards, and outdoor surfaces in several parts of the parish, creating hazardous conditions.

Electricity remained on in some communities, while power outages were reported in other areas of Avoyelles Parish.
