Maintenay, France, with its ancient water mill still in use, is among the stops of the April tour. Pierre Mayeux, ancestor of the Avoyelles Mayeux family, was born at Maintenay and migrated in 1720 to Louisiana. The 300th anniversary of the ships which brought the early families of Louisiana is the theme of the tour being discussed Friday in Marksville.
Information about the planned 300th Anniversary Ancestry Tour of France will be available from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday (Oct. 18) at Fresh Catch/Broken Wheel Brewery in Marksville.
School employees who returned to the Avoyelles Parish School District this school year will be receiving an extra supplement check at the end of this month.
With all 49 precincts in Avoyelles Parish reporting, complete but unofficial results show Connie Desselle elected as clerk of court with 53.45 percent of the vote in a three-person race.
