Obituary for Jamsie Lenora Roberts Braud
Jamsie was born Nov. 28, 1960 in New Orleans. The third child of Orla and Anita Roberts. After moving to Richardson, Texas, Detroit, then Memphis, her family settled in Monroe where she graduated from Neville High School in 1978. She then graduated from the University of Louisiana Monroe in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology and then proudly earned her
Master’s Degree in geology from the University of Louisiana Lafayette.
Jamsie, age 65, passed away in her sleep, on Saturday, 6 December 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orla O. Roberts and Anita J. Lancaster Roberts and brother, Anthony Guy Roberts. Also, grandparents, Allen and Jamsie Lenora Roberts Wood of Woodville, Mississippi and William Alfred Guy and Nettie Gillihan Lancaster of Mountain View, Arkansas.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth W. Braud; son, Stuart Lancaster Braud of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda G. Braud Kaya and Dr. Celil Refik Kaya, PhD. of Hackensack, New Jersey and sister; Sallie Lancaster Roberts of Woodville, Mississippi.
Jamsie attended Wilkinson County Christian Academy in Woodville, Mississippi for one year and
made lasting friends from there. After earning her Master’s Degree, Jamsie soon began working for Schlumberger in the MWD offshore division. A petite woman navigating a man’s industry with the power of dynamite and a strong sense of humor in the offshore drilling environment.
It was through a very close friend in Lafayette on New Years Day, 1990, she met and soon married Kenneth and they started a family and the odyssey in the petroleum industry that took them from Lafayette to Missouri City and Pflugerville, Texas and eventually to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she found and
purchased her dream home that she dearly loved. She made it home.
The family became her primary focus, and she ensured that her children had everything they needed to be successful, at whatever interest they excelled. Be it gymnastics, music lessons, dance, the needs were met.
She earned her real estate license and worked her way to become a broker. She was an active member in the churches in Pflugerville, Texas and Oklahoma City. Jamsie eventually was able to obtain her dream job as a Petroleum Geologist and succeeded beyond expectations.
She was active not only with the church but with the local Geological society. She was integral in keeping her children involved and successful in their efforts. She took them around Texas and Oklahoma when needed, as well across the country including Chicago and NYC. She was their rock and biggest supporter.
Jamsie is greatly missed and the mark she left in her world is huge with her impressions evident in all that she touched. She possessed the unique talent to make everyone from all walks of life feel valued and heard.
