Avoyelles Parish crossed a threshold nobody thought would happen just a few months ago. As of noon today (Aug. 6), the parish's official COVID-19 pandemic totals are 1,002 with 29 deaths.
Although daily increase was lower than in the past few weeks, the number of Avoyelles Parish residents infected with COVID since the pandemic began in March rose by 12 to put the parish's total at
Avoyelles Parish Ward 10/Bunkie City Marshal Charles Candella has dropped out of the Nov. 3 race for re-election.
The daily increase in COVID cases was still in double-digits in the state's noon update for Avoyelles Parish, pushing the total over the 900-case mark to 907 -- up 12 from Thursday's report.
